Welcome to Scouting
Scouting invites every youth to a safe, fun place to learn, explore, and grow.
Troop 26 & Troop 4026
For nearly 70 years, Troop 26 has proudly served the Avery Creek and Arden communities, now joined by Troop 4026, welcoming young women into Scouting since 2019. Supported by local families and our charter partner, the Avery Creek Community Center, we call Camp Stephens—“Long-Pine Camp”—our home.
As part of the Looking Glass District in the Daniel Boone Council, we are dedicated to fostering adventure, personal growth, and community for all Scouts. Youth can join Scouts BSA if they:
- Are in fifth grade and at least 10 years old,
- Have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, or
- Are 11 years old but not yet 18.
Our Mission
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Help Us Rebuild Camp Stephens: A Community Legacy
On September 27, Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina, bringing devastation to our communities. Lives were upturned, homes and businesses were lost—and for our Scout family, Camp Stephens was left in ruins. The French Broad River surged beyond its banks, rising nearly 23 feet and overtaking our building, sweeping away decades of history, essential supplies, and the memories of generations of Scouts.
Yet, we are Scouts, and resilience is in our DNA. Guided by the Scout Law—”Loyal, Helpful, and Brave”—we’re determined to restore Camp Stephens as a haven for future Scouts and the heart of our community. Our Troops have regrouped in a temporary location, but the road ahead requires rebuilding our property, replacing lost equipment, and restoring facilities.
We can’t do it alone. We need your support to bring Camp Stephens back to life, to help Scouts return to the place where they learn to serve, grow, and lead. By contributing to our campaign, you’re not only rebuilding a space but also investing in generations of Scouts who will grow into the future leaders of our community.
Join us in bringing Camp Stephens back—stronger and more resilient than ever. Your generosity will help us turn a vision of recovery into a reality. Thank you for standing by our side.

Scouts: Track Your Progress
Scouters can now submit ranks, merit badges, and awards online—an easy, convenient, and accurate way to enter your achievements yourself. Once submitted, Unit leaders can approve your earned items, which will then automatically update in the BSA’s official youth member record.
Pardon our dust. Our website is a work in progress.
